Intro
Have you ever found yourself lost in thought, pondering the mysteries of existence? I’ve been thinking about life lately, as we all do – or, at least, I think we all do. Recently, I stumbled upon two captivating ideas that resonated deeply with me, stirring the strings of my soul like a melody played on a kazoo. Yes, a kazoo – simple, versatile, and capable of shifting pitch much like the theories I encountered.
These ideas, two distinct yet intertwined theories, invite us to explore the essence of our existence. The first, appropriately named “The Egg,” proposes a journey of reincarnation where every life lived is but a fragment of a grander evolution towards something beyond comprehension. The second theory, rooted in the laws of physics, suggests that we are not merely inhabitants of the Universe but we are the Universe, composed of stardust and the remnants of celestial fires.
As I dived deeper into these concepts, I couldn’t help but wonder: What if these theories aren’t separate but combined? What if we are both individuals on a journey of self-realization and interconnected threads woven into the fabric of the cosmos? What’s the purpose?
The Egg
In one, it simply boils down to we are all one and the same. It’s essentially reincarnation. I like that it is one Universe with just one being. We live every life from ancient times and before all the way to the far future. The purpose: to mature into some “bigger” being, not quite a God, but somehow more. This one is titled “The Egg.”
The Universe
The other theory is that we are the Universe. Since matter cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed, the matter that existed at the start of the Universe is the same matter within us. We are the stardust particles and fire from a million suns. I like this theory because it makes me feel that life will continue. There are hundreds of thoughts on the end of the Universe, but that’s not for a few trillion years (we think). So, for now, when you die, your matter will eventually become someone else’s matter. Your soul….that’s what is tricky. Our brain is matter, but consciousness – our soul too – that’s…what? Not matter. It’s something else.
A Merger
When we merge the concepts of “The Egg” and the idea of being interconnected with the Universe, a profound realization emerges: we are not just individual entities, but interconnected expressions of a larger cosmic whole. This realization challenges us to reconsider our understanding of identity, empathy, and morality.
Think about this: if every person is essentially a different version of the same life force, then the boundaries between “self” and “other” begin to mix. If you are me and I am you, then acts of kindness towards others become acts of self-care and compassion. Empathy becomes not just a virtue, but something that should be required.
Furthermore, this interconnectedness should make us reevaluate our actions and the consequences. If we are all one, then every action we take has ripple effects that extend far beyond ourselves. Does that mean it’s self-pleasure when we have sex? Are we hurting ourselves when we commit murder?
These questions compel us to adopt a more mindful and compassionate approach to life. They challenge us to be more considerate of others’ feelings, and to focus on kindness. It’s about recognizing that our actions not only shape our own journey but also contribute to the collective evolution of consciousness (whatever that is).
Conclusion
As I reflect on these ideas, I find myself more committed to embodying kindness in my daily life. I’m learning to let go of frustrations more, be more cognizant of how I make others feel, and I’m being more vocal about how I feel. I’m taking into account what I want. This is the “one” life we live.
Human life may not have purpose in the bigger picture. But it almost doesn’t matter. For me, the purpose of life is to be grateful for the life we have. It’s amazing how all this matter wound up combined in the formation of you and I. The purpose of life is to be kind and enjoy everything you possibly can. Do what makes you happy without negatively influencing others.
In whatever comes next – Heaven, Hell, or another life, or something else – we might as well enjoy ourselves as much as we can and be kind to one another. Let’s embrace the interconnectedness of all life, cultivate kindness in our hearts, and appreciate our shared journey through the Universe.
