I stayed a few days in New York and Hoboken with my brother and a friend. While they worked, I applied to jobs in copywriting and museums. I contemplated getting into the trades – electricity anyone? We also tried a few food spots – my favorites being Moe’s Pastrami and the Sushi Lounge.

I had a burger and the pastrami sandwich from Moe’s (on two separate occasions). Both were stunning to the mouth, especially the pastrami sandwich. I got the small just to snack on, but it did a good job of filling me up. It was juicy. It was melt in your mouth. I was too much in heaven to take a picture.

At the Sushi Lounge, I had the Godzilla and Hoboken rolls. If you love sushi and are visiting Hoboken, go here! Heck! If you’re in NYC, hop the ferry to Hoboken and eat some sushi. I’m not a spicy man (that’s the Mainer in me), so these rolls hit the mark for spicy enough but not overwhelming. The spicy mayo was perfect with the fish. Solid place for a few friends.

I’m back home now and already my trip feels like a dream or some former life that you remember just a glimpse of. I’m going to make it a duty of mine to take a moment every day to just think about hiking Diamond Hill as it sprinkles or nearly spraining my ankle on the cobblestones of Rome and Pompeii.

As I look forward, my first objective is work. And then I’m ready for my next property. So, in between looking back at my trip, cleaning out my room, and applying to jobs, I’ll listen to Mitski, as recommended by a music-focused bartender at Fiona’s Bar in Brooklyn. It’s the vibe for today while it snows.

Cheers!
