Inventory of 2025

I’ve started two different drafts prior to this in an attempt to publish something of note. Frankly, I feel like crap, and my creative flux capacity hasn’t been charging – may need a new alternator. Still, the whole purpose of this blog is to keep me writing. So, let’s write….or, I’ll write, and maybe you’ll read.

2025 to 2026 with an alternator and old photograph

As the year concludes, it might be worthwhile to take stock of everything I’ve written this year. I took advantage of a creative project dashboard (check out Second Pass to learn more). This dashboard really helped me finish old projects. Of course, I have several long-term endeavors still in the works. So, here’s my inventory!

Unfinished

Aurum Ledger is resting patiently with four chapters. I haven’t written a chapter since this summer. Winter break provided the time, but my body has taken the creative energy for survival. Wait for me a bit longer, Howard and friends?

My ancestry film project has been mentioned a few times. Currently, I’m leaning into the documentary process, which is new to me. Super excited to see where it goes. I likely will continue this avenue further, branching out to the other…branches of my family tree.

Quietly Waiting

I wrote about philosophy in 2024 and intended to continue that trend, but that never happened. Looks like something to touch on next year…maybe.

Reenacting is always a draw. Literally the best hobby! A number of conflicts kept me away this season, so I owe it attention next time around.

Probably Dead

Algon Forks” stems from an idea I had for a commune centered on bartering. The scale I wrote at is probably a pipe dream, but it would be nice to have a solid community to share tools and experiences.

At least for now, I’m done writing about teaching. My post about avoiding burnout did very well, yet I don’t anticipate spending more time on the subject than I have to. Teaching takes enough of my energy already.

Surprised me this year

Many of my older posts need search engine optimization. I have spent some time in that process. What surprised me was thinking about previous travels. SEO work is not my favorite, and it usually is frustrating or irksome. Being able to think about travel the whole time made it rather enjoyable.

Writing about writing is not something I expected to spend so much time on. Looking back, I studied form, revision, medium, and ideas overall. It has helped me study the type of writer I am. Maybe that’s something to consider even more. Who am I as a writer?
